Text: Modern Woodworking

Course Description
Students will review the safety of each tool and be required to pass each of the tool’s safety test with a 100%. Students will be required to complete projects using differing wood joints, as well as use all tools associated in the shop. Such tools may include: shaper, jointer, planer, molder, table saw, radial arm saw, miter saws, lathe, CNC, etc. Students should have completed Introduction to Industry before enrolling in this course. The main purpose of this course is to prepare students for Millworking 1.

- Woodworking joints
- Tool safety review
- A more in depth look at procedures for woodworking and tool usage.
- Finishing techniques
- Woodworking plans comprehension
- Daily Shop Grade
- Assignments

- Shelf/other small intro/review project.
- Wood Joints

- Book Case/Podium
- Personal project (if time permits)
- You will receive a daily grade based on shop work. This grade will reflect your performance (how busy you stayed, safety, cleaning).
Make-up work will be completed according to the student handbook.

- YOU ARE EXPECTED TO STAY BUSY AND WORK JUST AS IF THIS IS A JOBSITE. IF YOU COMPLETE ALL THE WORK THAT HAS BEEN ASSIGNED, YOU ARE TO BEGIN WORKING/DESIGING YOUR OWN PROJECT. YOU ARE ALSO EXPECTED TO CLEAN AT THE END OF THE HOUR.
Classroom and shop rules will be covered at the beginning of the semester. NO HORSEPLAY OR YOU WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE SHOP. 3 safety violations in one school week will result in a lowered grade and removal from shop for up to one week.
